Initially the OCP was run as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity under the name 'Overseas Coupon Project'. Recent acts of Congress which increased active duty military pay as well as Congress' commitment to continue increasing military pay over the next several years have brought the vast majority of active duty service families above the Federal poverty level. Because of these changes, we were unable to maintain our non-profit status. However, we still feel that many military families appreciate and need our help. So, we have restructured our organization and made a name change.
Only donors who contributed to the OCP in 2001 are currently eligible to receive Awards.
OCP Awards will be given semi-annually. The awards periods are:
January 1st through June 30th
July 1st through December 31st
Those organizations and individuals wishing to receive an award for the first award period are requested to report their donations to OCP President Becky Thane no later than July 15th. Those wishing to receive an award for the second award period are requested to report their donations no later than January 15th.
It should be noted that all donation amounts given in this announcement represent the face value of coupons contributed to the OCP, not money.
